Homerun balls with King Felix hot sauce

Felix Hernandez was sent out to try and salvage a split in a home/road 4 game series with the San Diego Padres. The Mariners got their first run in the top of the first inning as Kendrys Morales sent his seventh homerun of the year over the centerfield fence and the Mariners took the 1-0 lead. The top of the third inning started off in a very interesting way, Brendan Ryan has never been known for his power but more for his glove, but for the second time this month Ryan sent one out and the Mariners took the 2-0 lead for Felix. After Hernandez struck out both Endy Chavez and Kyle Seager singled to put runners at the corners, Morales then added to his day by singling up the middle to drive in the third run for the Mariners for the day and his second RBI of the day as well.

Felix had a no hitter going into the bottom of the fourth inning, until Chase Headley singled up the middle, before Headley singled Hernandez walked Alexi Amarista and on the single Amarista was able to get to third. Carlos Quinten drove in the first run for the Padres by sending a fly ball to Michael Saunders that scored Amarista. Hernandez was able to get out of the fourth inning thanks to a great diving play by Brendan Ryan to start an inning ending double play. In the top of the sixth inning Nick Franklin drove a ball to deep centerfield and was able to get enough to get it over the fence for his first major league homerun and the Mariners took the 4-1 lead. Felix was able to draw a walk with one out in the top of the seventh inning, the following at bat Endy Chavez would add to the homerun total 4 as he hit his second homerun to put the Mariners up 6-1.

In the top of the eighth Nick Franklin would hit his second homerun of the day to put the M's up 7-1 and the homerun total to 5 for the day. Felix exited the game after pitching eight strong innings and Oliver Perez was brought in to shut the door on the Padres. Perez was able to close things out and end a 7 road game losing streak.

The Mariners travel to Minnesota to face the Twins for a three game series. Hisashi Iwakuma will go out for the first game, Aaron Harang will take to the mound in game 2, and even though it hasn't been decided I have a feeling that Jeremy Bonderman will go out for his Mariners debut in the series finale.
