Luck of the Irish strikes the Mariners

Well a happy St. Patty's day to all. The Seattle Mariners went into today's game against the Texas Rangers having mostly major leaguers on the team while the Rangers basically had a minor league team, I mean i never even heard of 99% of the players who played for Texas today. For some reason the major leaguers had some real trouble hitting of the minor leaguers. Blake Beaven started the game for the Mariners and pitched 3 perfect innings before giving up a run in the 4th. Well like always the Mariners came back and took the lead as Raul Ibanez crushed his 3rd home run of the spring over the right field fence. Beaven the continued his strong outing by shutting the Rangers D-league team out not allowing a run as he put in 6 terrific innings. He then went into the bullpen and threw an extra 19 pitches.

Carter Capps then came in for an inning of relief and was perfect! He struck out 2 of the three batters he faced. Kameron Loe then came into the 8th to put in for some work for a spot on the M's bullpen for the season. Not a very good inning for Loe as he allowed 2 hits and 2 runs. But the Mariners once again had a clutch inning and with two outs Brad Miller stepped in a lined a triple to right center field and that brought up Kendrys Morales. Well Morales took a swat and lined as what seem to me would be a single (as the game was on TV) over the right field fence for his 4th HR of the spring. With Ibanez's and Morales's homers that pushed the M's MLB leading total to 43. The team's record for home runs in a single spring training is 51 which they had in 1999. The M's just have to average a homer a game to break it.

Now in the 9th the Mariners sent out Danny Farquhar who if you remember we got in the Ichiro trade last year. He had a good 1-2-3 inning getting his 2nd save of the spring. The Mariners won their 4th game in a row and pushed their record to 15-7. The Rangers dropped to 10-11. In another note Felix Hernandez threw a minor league game today and went 4 innings and struck out 6.
